MLC Obtains FSSC 22000 Certification for Food-Grade Operations Management

A global provider of high-calcium lime products and technical solutions, Mississippi Lime Company (MLC) announced that, at its STE. Genevieve, Missouri, facility, has completed certification to ensure that all of its food-grade operations adhere to the requirements of FSSC 22000, a food safety management scheme recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).

“FSSC 22000 is a gold standard because it goes beyond a check-the-boxes approach to food safety—it is more process-focused. We have already achieved excellent results with AIB auditing and certification at our food-grade operations. Adding the certification for FSSC 22000 provides additional assurance that we are continuously conforming to processes and controls that prevent contamination, protect quality and safeguard the food supply chain,” says Paul Hogan, MLC president and CEO.

The VitaCal products manufactured by the organization are utilized as food-grade ingredient synthesis aids and ingredients in meals and beverages. For instance, maize products, tortillas, snack foods, fortified beverages, and flour and table salt flow conditioners are frequently made using food-grade calcium hydroxide. In addition to being certified Kosher, MLC claims that the whole STE. Genevieve MLC location possesses an ISO 9001:2015 accreditation for quality management.
