The first license for IS/ISO 3826-1: 2019 for plastic collapsible containers containing human blood and blood components is granted to a public sector firm in India.

HLL Lifecare Limited, a mini-ratna public sector enterprise under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has obtained the all-India first license for IS/ISO 3826-1: The utilization of 2019 for plastics and collapsible containers for human blood and blood components. It is now the first Indian manufacturer of blood bags to conform to the stringent international standards for blood bags used for emergency transfusion services. The Bureau of Indian Standards felicitated the HLL for its achievement at a function held on Friday at the corporate R&D center of HLL in the capital.

A superior blood bag system had been in full production at HLL’s manufacturing facility at Akkulam here since the early 1990s. HLL’s blood bag systems provide extensive coverage of the most diverse healthcare facility requirements. Our product portfolio is a combination of single, double, triple and quadruple blood bags with capacities ranging from 100 ml to 500 ml. Most of them have specialized features such as leukodepletion filters, sampling ports, diversion bags, needle injury protectors and autologous blood bag options.
