EMCOR UK Becomes the First Organization to be Accredited against BSI’S NEW Psychological Health And Safety System

A few days away from World Mental Health Day, EMCOR United Kingdom has become the world’s first organization prove that it gives priority to its employees and be certified with respect to the new BSI regime that is sound related to the International Standard ISO 45003:2021 Occupational Health and Safety Management — Psychological health and safety at work — Guidelines for managing psychosocial risks.

The new international standard, which was released at the beginning of the year, provides guidance on how to improve the psychological health, safety and well-being of staffs.
It stresses the importance of developing a culture of safety and support by identifying and addressing the causes of psychological well-being in the workplace create a supportive environment for wellbeing.

The certification system, developed by BSI, will explore the implications of a workplace protection management system and that it is not just about physical well-being but also psychological well-being through the management of psychosocial risks, which may result in physical, mental, cognitive and emotional damage.

Kate Field, Global Health, Safety and Wellness Officer, BSI stated:

Mental well-being challenges in the workplace led to the loss of 38.8 million days in 2019-20 and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have only exacerbated the issue. Employees’ fitness and well-being are essential when looking at long-term effectiveness, organizational effectiveness and resiliency.

ISO 45003 helps organizations to understand issues, develop new organizational approaches and dynamically manage short- and long-term risks.

Support for psychological well-being in the workplace has never been so important in terms of stress burn-out, anxiety, and depression cost savings billions of dollars because of reduced productivity, long-term illness absences, and associated costs.
