UAE’s Ministry of Health And Prevention (MoHAP) has achieved a new milestone and become a pioneer for adopting the best international standards and practices for effective governance management systems.

Ministry of Health And Prevention, Government of UAE has become one of the first organizations in the Middle East and North Africa to transform from BS 13500 to ISO 37000:2021.

The Ministry of Health And Prevention (MoHAP) has been granted ISO 37000:2021 Certification, after conducting a comprehensive and conscientious audit. It assures the organization’s compliance with all the governance standards.

It demonstrates the organization’s ability to build a governance system on the pillars of accountability, trust, fair practices and transparency. This new achievement will manifest the ministry’s position as a pioneer for adopting the best international standards and practices for effective governance management systems.

Dr Mohammed Salim Al Olama, who is an undersecretary of the Ministry of Health And Prevention, collected the ISO certification in Dubai at the ministry’s headquarters.
Distinction and Invention

Al Olama congratulated the employees for accomplishing this milestone and highlighted the ministry’s constant endeavors to achieve excellence and development. He also thanked and underlined the MoHAP employee’s invaluable contribution and commitment to get the highest international standard.

Al Olama said “The ISO accreditation is yet another testament to the success of our strenuous efforts, and highlights our efficient performance. It also reflects our aspirations to reach new heights and bring about new feats. We have always been committed to developing our institutional performance, and strengthening the health sector’s governance and sustainability, as well as implementing the latest effective governance standards.”

Harmonized Governance System

Simultaneously, Mohammed Al Ali highlighted the ministry’s determination to implement and adopt the best practices and an upgradation from BS 13500 to ISO 37000 demonstrates the organization’s ability to govern, integrate and establish a comprehensive administrative environment.

Al Ali said “The ministry is pressing ahead towards new horizons of excellence in line with its strategy and operational plans, which are aimed at promoting scientific and institutional evidence-based practices to ensure the transparency of its work, apply the latest international standards and meet the requirements of effective governance.”

Furthermore, he outlines the ministry’s ambition to strengthen the position of UAE’s health system, as well as implement significant changes in the field of governance. He stressed on the ministry’s non-stop journey to encourage the profitability, competitiveness and sustainability of the healthcare sector, formulate policies, protocols and procedures based on best practices and establish quality governance and implement controls to enhance services delivered to clients and stakeholders.

Immense Efforts

Saqr Al Hemeiri praised the ministry for the new accomplishment and outlined the ministry’s accreditation has been possible only because of the enormous efforts put by ministry’s team, which made the ministry efficiently compete with regional and international bodies and comply with all the requirements set by various standards and certifications.

Al Hemeiri said, “The ministry’s leadership is committed to steering the ship towards new heights of excellence and achievements and is determined to apply the best and latest global practices. This has reflected positively on the ministry receiving ISO 37000 from BSI, becoming the first entity in the region to get this certificate.”

He stressed that the ministry concentrates on enhancing its capabilities and cadres, focuses on building conducive environment and provides the required tools that enable the ministry to compete at the global level.

Remarkable Achievement

The Regional Managing Director of Assurance BSI India, Middle East, Africa and Turkey at the British Standards Institution, Theuns Kotze said, “The ministry’s senior management has fully complied with the requirements and benchmarks set forth in ISO 37000:2021 Governance of organisations. MoHAP has now become the first entity in the Mena region to obtain this certification from the British Standards Institution (BSI), adding that the ministry’s ambitious goal took a lot of effort and dedication to get the certification.”
